Everyone gets their fifteen minutes

Andy Warhol once said that everyone gets their fifteen minutes of fame. And while everyday people have always found ways of becoming temporarily famous, never have regular people had so many opportunities to become well-known as they do today. Social networking websites like MySpace and Facebook are helping people make connections throughout the world. Media sharing sites like YouTube are letting people debut homemade videos and self-recorded music to anyone with an internet connection. The idea of celebrity has been gradually flipped on its head. As Time magazine said recently, its person of the year was “You.”
With a multitude of technological tools at their disposal, young people under the age of 25 have many opportunities to become well-known. This Millennial generation has the ability to display their talents, whether they are vocal, athletic, or technological, to a vast audience. Here are several young Bostonians who are reshaping the social scene, contributing to technology and trying to make their mark on society.
